Guardian Roof Polymers Aromatic Base Coat SC is a single-component aromatic urethane, liquid-applied roof coating designed as a tan-colored base coat for use in polyurethane roofing systems. It is the ideal urethane to build the body of the roofing system and can be used over most substrates. It provides excellent adhesion and tensile performance.

Recommended Use
- Guardian Roof Polymers Aromatic Base Coat SC is intended for use as a liquid-applied waterproofing membrane over plywood and concrete decking as part of pedestrian and vehicular decking systems. It may also be used as a roof coating and in shower pan liner applications.
Thinning
- Thinning is typically not needed.
Mixing
- Use an electric or compressed-air-powered mixer that will thoroughly agitate the mix. A Jiffytype mixer has been found to work well with this coating.
Surface Preparation
- Surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, and other contaminants. Repair defects prior to coating.
Application
- Apply by brush or roller. Apply at a maximum rate of 1.25 gal/100 ft² (4.7 L / 9.3m²) for a wet film thickness of 24 mils (20 mils dry).NOTE: Do not exceed an application rate of 1.5 gal / 100 ft² (5.7 L / 9.3 m²) per coat.
Dry time
- 10 to 12 hours at 75 °F (24 °C) and 50% RH. Dry time will be faster in warmer and more humid conditions, and slower in colder and dryer conditions.

May cause allergy or asthma symptoms or breathing difficulties if inhaled. May cause respiratory irritation. Suspected of causing cancer. May damage the unborn child. Suspected of damaging fertility. May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure . Hazard(s) not otherwise classified (HNOC): Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects.
PREVENTION: Obtain special instructions before use. Do not handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. No smoking. Keep container tightly closed. Ground/bond container and receiving equipment. Use explosion-proof electrical/ventilating/lighting/equipment. Use only non-sparking tools. Take precautionary measures against static discharge. Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapors/spray. Wash thoroughly after handling. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Contaminated work clothing must not be allowed out of the workplace. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. In case of inadequate ventilation, wear respiratory protection.
RESPONSE: In case of fire: Use water fog, foam, dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide (CO2) to extinguish. Specific treatment (see Section 8 on this SDS). If on skin (or hair): Remove/Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/shower. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. If skin irritation or a rash occurs: Get medical advice/attention. If inhaled: Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. If experiencing respiratory symptoms: Call a poison/doctor. If in eyes: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.
STORAGE AND DISPOSAL: Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed. Keep cool. Store locked up. Dispose of contents and container in accordance with all local, regional, national and international regulations.
